The Thinking Shooter: How Law Enforcement is Creating this New Breed of Police Officer

The largest law enforcement agency in Nevada and one of the largest in the United States, Las Vegas Metro Police Department has made a major commitment to training “The Thinking Shooter.”

By adapting this timely term to new concepts in law enforcement preparedness, Lieutenant Dennis O’Brien and Sergeant Duaine Cowley of the LVMPD have further enhanced their department’s well-renowned law enforcement training program through the recent acquisition of fourteen of Targamite’s robotic moving targets called TARGABOTS.  These unique devices add portable robotics to the LVMPD small arms training program to efficiently improve (1) engagement accuracy and (2) real-time threat/no threat, shoot/no shoot decision making in the field.

To cap this important acquisition, TARGAMITE will be demonstrating its TARGABOT at LVMPD’s Annual Range Day, an invitational held at the department’s Firearms Training and Tactics Unit (FTTU), on the occasion of SHOT 2017.
